Installment #8 - Second Season begins

Good Evening folks!

It’s official… Our second season has begun.  On Friday and Saturday, barring any inclement weather, we will be wrestling for the Concorde district title at Centreville High School. It should be a great event, and hopefully, we can come home with some hardware…  It has been a great season thus far, but records and success up to this point mean nothing when we get to tournament time.  We are going to need all of your support in the coming weeks.  Below is the schedule for Friday and Saturday.

I have attached a request letter for advertising in our state program.  Any financial support or help with meals during the event in the hospitality room is greatly appreciated.  Please pass it along to anyone who may be interested in a tax deduction.

This past weekend we competed in the Vanguard Invitational at Sun Valley High School in Aston, PA.  As always it was a good end of the regular season tournament; it is only one day and it included some tough individuals, but it wasn’t a grind like many of our other tournaments during the year.  We came out on top as team champions.  We defeated runner-up St. Marks, DE and 3rd place team Marple Newtown, PA.  We had 8 wrestlers in the finals, and we had 4 champions.

Champions included Jake Smith (119), Jack Bass (125), Brooks Martino (135) and Wes Jones (160).  Runner-ups included Lucas Sodergren (103), Santiago Valdez (130), Zak DePasquale (145) and Jake Pinkston (Hwt).  Winning the bronze were Shon Topper (140) and John Buono (189).  Tim Fitzpatrick closed out our place winners by placing 4th in a tough 171 lb weight class.  Jack Bass was awarded the Outstanding wrestler award.  He defeated a previously undefeated wrestler (24-0) from Radnor high school in PA.

Also on Saturday, our JV team competed in the JV regional jamboree at Hayfield Secondary.  It was a success as we placed several of our wrestlers in the top 6.

103 Greyson Olimpo was 3rd

125 Buck Bouchard was 3rd

130 Andrew Hite was 3rd

135 Avery Henry was 5th

145 Jake Grose was 3rd

160 Zach Leitzau was 3rd

171 Matt Sharpy was 2nd

Tonight, we won all 3 of our dual meets.  We defeated Oakton 49-30, Herndon 72-12 and Wakefield 62-18.  You can see the results our  www.Trackwrestling.com statistics page.

Congratulations are in order for Jake Pinkston.  We just found out that he was awarded the defensive MVP of the Grassroots Youth Football League (GYFL) that he participated in last Spring as an 8th grader.
