Good Morning Robinson Wrestling Fans,
The school year is coming to an end, and it has been one to remember. Thanks to all of you who have generously given of your time, money and prayers to these young people. We wouldn’t be here without you!
We had the pleasure of being recognized recently by the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors. They were gracious in their words of praise, and our young people acted with class and humility. Below is a picture of us with the Board.

Our State Championship Rings have come in, and attached is a picture of it. The kids are very excited to wear them! Thanks to all of you who donated to the cause, we were able to subsidize the cost for our athletes, and they look fantastic!! There’s still time to donate, if you forgot. Please send checks made out to Rams Athletic Boosters” to:

Our off–season training continues to go well. Many of our athletes have been dedicated to training in the wrestling and weight room to make a run at another state title.
Memorial Day weekend, many of our stars competed in the NHSCA National Duals in VA Beach, and they we were successful. The team, led by Coach Sam Smith, wrestled undefeated until the Quarter-Final round until they were defeated by the Young Guns squad out of Western Pennsylvania. As a team, they finished in the top 8 (our of 40), and our boys including Jake Smith, Santiago Valdez, Brooks Martino and Jack Bass gained national exposure by beating national level competition. Also, Jake Smith and Jack Bass will be travelling to other freestyle and Greco-Roman events this summer including events in Baltimore, Florida, Oklahoma City and Fargo, ND.
We will be having another Robinson Pig Roast early next school year (October). Please be looking for information as the date gets closer.
This weekend, Robinson graduate Brent Jones will compete in the USA Wrestling Senior World Team Trials in Oklahoma City. You can follow all of the action on www.trackwrestling.com, or live video will be on
http://www.themat.tv/live-events/. He will be competing for a spot at 211 lbs (96 kg). Good Luck to him.
Long time coach, Rick Jones, will be retiring from Fairfax County in a few days, we hope to keep him involved in the wrestling program. Thanks to him for the effort, dedication and service that he has given over the last 20 years.
In other alumni news, I recently received a text message from 2005 graduate Scott Rayburn, who recently was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the US ARMY (He leaves Sunday to train). His text message read… “I got my commission today coach, and they said the one thing that separated me from the others is INTENSITY, thank you for helping me learn to push myself”. I still get goosebumps as I type that, and I am so proud of all of our graduates who can use the lessons learned in our program, and in our great school to better themselves as adults!
As we complete another school year, I am excited for the possibilities of our graduating Seniors. As much as we will miss their effort, dedication and leadership, the “real world” will be better with them in it. It is, as always, with a heavy heart that I say goodbye to them, but the expectation is that they will be back around giving back to the tradition of excellence! To Shon Topper, Jackson Maxey, Wes Jones, John Buono, Tim Fitzpatrick, Kevin Vasquez and Lyndsea Seril…THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES!
