Installment #3 - Happy New Year!

Good Morning Robinson Wrestling Fans and Happy New Year.

I hope your holiday season was great, and I hope your 2011 is successful and happy.  I want to thank you again for all of the hard work that you have put into the Robinson Wrestling program over the years.  We could not be here without you!

The team travelled to Manheim, PA over the break, and we came back close to where we wanted to be.  Eleven wrestlers competed, and we came home with 3 champions, a runner-up, a third and fourth.  We also finished 2nd as a team behind Easton, PA.  Dallas Smith (112), Jake Smith (119), and Wes Jones (160) showed their dominance and came out on top of the podium as Manheim Champions.  Santiago Valdez (130) wrestled a great tournament, but came-up just short in the finals losing a 5-1 war.  Brooks Martino (135) finished strong with his 3rd pace finish , and Jack Bass (125) finished 4th losing to the same wrestler from Council Rock North twice.  All of our athletes won matches, and although we weren’t the champions of the event, we saw a lot of great fight from the Rams.  You can See brackets here, and see team results here from the tournament.

This Wednesday, we will face off with district rival Chantilly and AA powerhouse Fauquier.  This will be a traditional tri-meet with 3 matches at 6, 7:15 and 8:25 PM.

Our JV team has been wrestling very well, and the future of the program is looking strong.  They will also compete in a JV Quad at South County on Wednesday beginning at 6 as we face off against Westfield, Annandale and South County.

This weekend we will travel to Stafford, Virginia to compete in the Battlefield Duals.  This is always a fantastic and TOUGH event where the team will wrestle 8 matches in 2 days.  We also wrestle district, region and state rival Westfield in the First Round as well as teams from Pennsylvania, Maryland and West Virginia.  You can see the schedule by clicking http://www.battlefieldduals.com/.  There is always national level match ups on every mat throughout both days, and I hope we can see you there!
